Michael Sheen is Aro in Twilight New Moon

He’s spent his entire life fighting them, and now he’s become … one of them! (Cue dramatic music!) I’m talking about Michael Sheen, of course, who has played the werewolf character Lucian in three “Underworld” movies, or you might know him more as the guy who grilled Nixon in Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon”. Talk about range: Sheen has gone from action/horror movie to the star of an Oscar-nominated drama and now to a teen vampire movie in the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon”. Who does this guy think he is? A highly versatile, highly skilled actor?

According to Variety, Sheen will play the leader of the Volturi, an Italy-based coven of vampires who appear in the “Twilight” sequel. The article doesn’t say who he’ll play, but apparently there are three leaders in the Volturi — Aro, who can read minds, Marcus, who “senses” relationships (whatever that means), and Caius, who apparently is the only powerless vampire of the bunch. (Update: EW says Sheen will play Aro, the mind-reading fella.)

Wikipedia says the Volturi are considered vampire royalty, because they’ve been around for so long, and act as a secret police for the species, keeping their existence hidden from humans. When they learn that Bella has knowledge of the existence of vampires, they demand she be turned or else killed. See, I told her hanging around vampires was gonna end up bad.

Below: Maybe instead of killing Bella, he can ambush interview her! Same difference.
