Robert Pattinson Confirms Twilight Breaking Dawn

There were already rumors that Summit Entertainment was getting ready to prep “Breaking Dawn”, the fourth installment in their vampire “Twilight” franchise, but there hasn’t been anything approaching official confirmation. Well, this is probably as official as it’s going to get: while in Cannes, and in-between shooting the second “Twilight” movie “New Moon”, star Robert Pattinson has confirmed to THR that there will indeed be a “Breaking Dawn” movie, and he’s committed to doing it, only he (and Summit) don’t quite yet know when they’ll begin production.

Pattinson also talked about his role in “New Moon”, which is apparently not nearly as heavy as his “Twilight” days, although the script has been beefed up to capitalize on Pattinson’s appeal with the fanbase:

Dropping in on the Croisette on the way to shooting the final four days of “New Moon” in Italy on Friday, Pattinson said he is heading back to Vancouver in October to finish up “Twilight: Eclipse,” the third installment. In between, the British actor, who turned 23 last week, plans to star in “Remember Me,” which Summit also is producing.

The script adaptation for “New Moon” beefs up his character’s role considerably — in the book, Edward is a “a voice in Bella’s head,” he said.

Said Pattinson, laughing: “You’re playing a figment in Bella’s imagination so I was trying to do it in a 2-D way. I hope it doesn’t translate onscreen as being boring.” The hardworking actor is taking a few days off after completing “New Moon” before the start of the “Remember Me” shoot. He plans three days off after an eight-week planned shoot for “Remember Me” before finishing “Eclipse” before October.

Obviously Summit can “prep” the fourth movie as much as they want, but it’s doubtful they’ll sink any real money into pre-production until they find out if the franchise has legs. That is, if “New Moon” and “Eclipse” does as well as they think those films will, a fourth movie is all but guaranteed at this point.

And in case you missed it, here’s the first official “New Moon” poster released earlier today.
