Three New Pics of the Volturi from Twilight New Moon

We previously posted the production stills showing the various Volturi clan members from “Twilight: New Moon” (check them out here if you haven’t seen them), but Summit just sent us three more images of the Volturi, except these are stills from the movie. As always, I’m clueless as to the context for these images, but I’m sure you Twilighters out there know them by heart. And hey, isn’t that Robert Pattinson in that shot with Dakota Fanning as child vampire Jane? Squeeeeeeeee!!!

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” dips its fangs into theaters November 20 courtesy of director Chris Weitz. The Volturis, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen, Cameron Bright, and Christopher Heyerdahl will also be there looking all vampire and clannish.

Twilight New Moon Pics: Michael Sheen as Aro, Bella and Jacob, the Rest of the Volturi Vampires

Those wacky kids and their love triangles. Should I go to the prom with the werewolf, date the vampire, or date both and not tell them about each other? You know, your usual sitcom-ish dilemmas, but with vampires and werewolves.

Two new pics from “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” (seriously, Summit really needs to reconsider that clunky title) via Yahoo! Movies today, including your first look at Martin Sheen as the vampire Aro, leader of the Volturi, which, if I’m not mistaken, is some kind of spicy Italian sauce.

The other pic is Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) beside a lake doing that whole “stare deeply into each other’s eyes to express our hidden desires which we dare not speak aloud for fear of consequences” thing.

UPDATE: Added four more pics of the Volturi clan.

Your First Look at Twilight New Moon’s Volturi Vampires

Here’s your first look at the Volturi vampires from the Chris Weitz’s upcoming “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” in full costume. Okay, just their face, because apparently Summit Entertainment has yet to release the official promo arts, but that didn’t stop someone from getting their hands on them and creating this little nice row call sheet anyway. Question: did they really have to “make up” Dakota Fanning’s face? The girl looks creepier without the makeup, but maybe that’s just me. First, a little bit about them:

The Volturi are the equivalent of a royal family to vampires. They operate from the city of Volterra, Italy. The Volturi have existed for at least three thousand years, if not more. They are the largest coven in existence, followed by Carlisle’s family and Tanya’s. However, they do not follow a “vegetarian” diet, as seen in New Moon, in which they capture and murder several humans in a carefully planned “meal”. They are considered the de facto royal family of vampires, as they are the largest and most influential coven in existence . The Volturi deal swiftly and decisively with anything they consider a threat to their city, or the vampire world. They destroy anyone who attempts to overthrow them, or resist their authority and, at Caius’ insistence, have hunted werewolves (true werewolves, not shape-shifters) to near extinction in Europe and Asia.

Starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Billy Burke, Edi Gathegi, Rachelle Lefevre, Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, Dakota Fanning, Anna Kendrick, Tinsel Korey, Cameron Bright, and directed by Chris Weitz.

“New Moon” rises November 20, 2009.

Comic-Con ‘09 Coverage: Twilight New

Were you one of those people who wanted to attend the “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” Comic-Con ‘09 panel? Well then get in line. No, I mean that literally. You’ll have to get in line. As in, at LEAST a day before the panel even takes place. But don’t worry, you may not have been there, but there were a couple thousand screaming Twilight fans there, and of course, the media. Lots and lots of media. I’m pretty sure 90% of them flew into town just to cover the panel, so you can imagine how hard it was to get in if you didn’t have a huge film crew following you. Below is everything that has been posted on the panel so far. More, no doubt, will follow in the coming days. And if you’re wondering about Kristen Stewart’s hair? She’s currently shooting a movie about ’80s rocker Joan Jett.

For information on the two clips that were shown at the panel, head over here. They break it down for ya.

Twilight: Spin-off Movies Without Bella or Edward?

Summit Entertainment should probably stop making and releasing all other movies and just keep putting out the “Twilight” offerings until the kids get tired of them. How will they know that they’ve squeezed the sponge dry? When the ticket sales stop. Until then, why even bother with other movies? The company has all three remaining “Twilight” books set to hit theaters within two years of each other (a spectacular and grinding production schedule, indeed) but after that — what next? How about spin-off movies?

According to “Twilight” producers Wyck Godfrey, Greg Mooradian and Guy Oseary (via Geek Files) one way to go after the Stephenie Meyers books have all been adapted is to spin-off the Volturi vampire clan. Maybe explore a little bit of their history, their present, and future. Great idea, but there is a catch: the kids love their Bella and Edward, and those two aren’t exactly a huge part of the Volturi, so that’s a huge problem right there. Are there really enough fans that will watch a “Twilight” movie just because it takes place in the same universe, but without the lovebirds?

Of course, Meyer also has an unfinished fifth “Twilight” book called “Midnight Sun” that she stopped working on after an incomplete copy leaked online. According to reports, that book is more of a companion novel, and would re-visit the Edward-Bella love affair, but this time from Edward’s point of view. According to Meyer, there’s a chance she may return to finish it, but that’s not a given at this point, and even if she did, I’m not sure how that would translate into another “Twilight” movie.

So kids, a “Twilight” movie without Bella, Edward, or Jacob. Would you even entertain such thoughts?

Below: Sure they’re not as popular as Bella or Edward, but they got cool hoodies.

Jacob is all Hands in the new New Moon Book Cover

EW’s got your first look at the new book cover for Stephanie Meyer’s “New Moon” novel, which is being re-released as a “tie-in” to the movie version that’s coming out later this year. I’m assuming the novel will just be a reprinting of the original novel. After all, why would you, you know, rewrite it? Anyways, the cover has Jacob and Bella on the cover. Edward is also there, and apparently he’s now turned into a giant moon. I could be wrong, of course.
